Workshop Title: Gold on Silver, Three Ways
Beginning students:
This class combines an intro to fusing Argentium silver and three techniques for adding gold to your work.
Students will learn to fuse Argentium wire, sheet, granules and filings to create a pendant and earrings, all with different applications of fused or bonded gold - 18K gold granules, 24K keum-boo and Accent Gold for Silver (AGS), a paint-on 24K gold.
Students will learn tips to make granules and filings quickly, explore innovative ways to apply gold and choose the best techniques for each design - and lots of clever tricks to take your work to the next level. Projects can be adapted to different skill levels so both beginners and experienced metalsmiths can learn something new.
Returning students:
Returning students can create large 3D pieces like cuff bracelets and hollow forms which require more heat and different gold-bonding methods than small work.
This is a Choose Your Own Adventure Class - students can focus on making a single piece, multiple projects or honing specific skills. We’ll explore complex fabrication and fusing heavy pieces in Argentium, while learning to bond keum-boo and Accent Gold for Silver using a torch instead of a hot plate.
This class is perfect for students who’ve taken my other workshops or have prior experience with Argentium and keum-boo. As always there will be lots of tips & tricks!

Student tools:
Students should bring their favorite tools needed for fabrication from home: Basic tools are available at the studio for your use.
In addition to these, students should bring/purchase the following:
(These will be available to purchase, or borrow, from Carol Z at class if you don't have an account at Rio Grande)
Required tools for class- Item #s are from Rio Grande:
• Charcoal block - must be new or sanded flat
• Solderite Pad (this can be used)
