An iconic location in the Peak District, for centuries this fine limestone valley was the site of lead mining and there was even talk of a Gold Rush! Amid the woodland we will discover remains of waterwheels and steam engines. We will also learn of medieval granges, find a lost village and even an Iron Age hill fort.
This Site of Special Scientific Interest is rich in ancient woodlands and flanked by limestone cliffs. Expect to see some lovely flowers. Our coffee and lunch spots are by the river and we should see dippers and wagtails.
Great for adventurous families. Children over 8 years please. Under 18s come free!
