Hello songwriters!
I would like to introduce to you the Gold Coast Songwriters Circle, an event to share, perform and craft your work alongside fellow songwriters and musicians.
On the first Monday evening of every month at St Cuthberts Anglican Church, Tweed Heads, a community of dedicated songwriters come together to celebrate their commitment to the craft.
We are a group designed to explore the art form and keep each other progressing and accountable in our songwriting journey - it is also an excuse to listen to and play original music with other local musicians.
A donation of $10 is appreciated to cover hall hire.
This is a creative safe space and there will be no judgement or critique offered in the sharing of songs. All skill levels and songs welcome.
How it works:
Firstly, we share something we have been working on and celebrate and encourage each other's work and offer feedback if it is welcomed.
Following this, a different structure, theme or focus will be provided to guide our writing to help us explore unfamiliar territory and expand our songwriting language.
This is the main chunk of the evening where we will put our pen to paper and instruments into gear and write.
Keeping in mind the month's songwriting focus, either solo or in pairs, we will strive to finish a song something within one hour.
Then, wherever we end up, we will perform and share what we wrote with the group and talk through any challenges or notable moments that occurred during the process.
Lastly, everyone is encouraged to share an individual songwriting goal with the group for the month to follow.
Every quarter, we will have an evening showcasing individual and songs written at these evenings at a local dedicated live music venue.
