ABOUT THE NEIGHBORHOOD PROCESSIONS (12PM - 2PM)

From 12pm to 2pm, we're hosting four neighborhood processions as ways to guide people to Flushing Bay. The tours will start at different points: Downtown Flushing, East Elmhurst, and Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

🎏 🎏 Pick the procession you would like to join when getting your ticket. 🎏 🎏

SaturBAY and the neighborhood processions are totally free to register and attend—but nothing happens without a whole lot of work and some well-placed resources! Consider supporting HWC’s and GoFB’s work today!

Flushing:

Start at 12pm at Flushing Town Hall and end at SaturBAY (1.5 miles). The walking tour, initiated with an indigenous grounding ceremony, will be led by Tecumseh Ceaser and Shane Weeks, co-founders of the Metoac Indigenous Collective.

Flushing Meadows Corona Park:

Entre el aire y el agua (Amid the Air and the Water): Start at 12pm at the New York Hall of Science and end at SaturBAY (2.5 miles). The walking tour, led by artist and Corona organizer Niceli Portugal, and in collaboration with City as Living Laboratory, will be a creative response to the rising phenomenon of cloudbursts and flooding in Corona Queens. Along the way, a specialist from the Department of Environmental Protection will share insights on the impact of cloudbursts and flooding in Corona. At each stop, participants will create art and send messages to water that will be read upon arrival to Flushing Bay.

Daylighting Flushing Creek: Start at 12pm at David Dinkins Circle (near the Mets Willets Point 7-train station) and end at SaturBAY (2.5 miles). Join artist and social practitioner Catherine Grau on a tour tracing the underground path of Flushing Creek and its proposed daylighting. This walk will offer attunement and deep listening exercises to tap into the past, present, and future of Flushing Creek and collect messages from the water about what taking care of a daylit Flushing Creek might look like.

Both FMCP walks will converge at Fountain of the Planets and later walk together to SaturBAY.

East Elmhurst:

Start at 12pm at the Malcolm X Community Garden and end at SaturBAY (1.5 miles). GoFB Stewardship Organizer Vonne Davien Wilson, will lead a walking tour revealing the path of the underground sewer system and the green spaces that help keep the water healthy.

ABOUT THE SATURBAY COOKOUT (2PM - 4PM)

The neighborhood processions will conclude at the FMCP Kayak/Canoe Launch for SaturBAY, a FREE cookout and celebration of Flushing Waterways. The cookout features tasty food by Nhà Mình, art workshops, and music by Funkrust Brass Band.

All activities and food are FREE with registration. Learn more about SaturBAY here.

ABOUT THE SCAVENGER HUNT (09.01 - 09.30)

This is part of Holes in the Wall Collective’s Imagined Futures // WaterWAYS

An interactive climate experience and city-wide scavenger hunt to reconnect, ready, repair, and reimagine the future of NYC. All September long 2025.

We invite you to connect with people all over the city and find ground in what climate readiness means in ourselves and our communities. From survival toolkits to the playlists to survive these times, it’s an invitation to recommit your love to our city and our wider ecologies— connecting to the deep and lasting legacies of community-based climate work in every borough of NYC. Let us imagine the future we want, while supporting the work that will get us there.

This event has a special sequence of missions, reflections and actions. To get the full experience download the Goosechase app and plug in the join code: WATERWAYS (available starting 09.01)

⚡️⚡️ SUPPORT OUR WORK!

At HWC and GoFB, we’ve always been sustained by grassroots support and couldn’t do what we do without you. While the tickets are free, if you can, please donate! SaturBAY is GoFB’s biggest fundraiser of the year, held online to support their ongoing advocacy for a healthy and equitably accessible Flushing Waterways. Check out their fundraising page at givebutter.com/SaturBAY2025.

These neighborhood art processions could also not have been possible without the support and collaboration of HWC! Consider donating to HWC so they can continue bringing communities together in celebration during times of change and transformation. Check out their donation page at holesinthewallcollective.org/donate.

Or choose to donate as a ticket option. Thank you! ⚡️⚡️

ABOUT THE PARTNERS

is a critical steward of Flushing Bay and Flushing Creek’s challenged, yet recovering ecosystems. Formed in 2015 as a coalition of dragon boaters, GoFB has a shared vision of a healthy and equitably accessible Flushing Waterways cared for by a network of local stewards. We accomplish our goals through grassroots organizing, community science and stewardship, habitat restoration, community planning, and free, family-friendly programming. In all our work, we strive to connect and engage local watershed communities with the greatest barriers to accessing a healthy environment.

connects people to place and possibility. We love creating experiences that give the public fresh ways to engage with difficult subjects and our changing climate. Whether by supporting people and organizations with new audiences and resources or bolstering community and civic engagement through our city-wide climate programming, we support an ecosystem of change and transformation to step further into a sustainable, viable, and thriving future for all of New York City.
