11 year old Bruno Houllié has had his front teeth knocked out by his classmate Ferdinand Reille in a Parisian park. Véronique and Michel Houllié host Annette and Alain Reille in their apartment to work out how to deal with the situation.
The conversation is polite at first, but it quickly descends into antagonism and chaos, revealing the parents to be no less childish than their offspring.
God of Carnage (originally Dieu du Carnage) was written by French author Yasmina Reza in 2008, who collaborated on the English translation with Christopher Hampton, both published in the same year.
It won the Tony Award for best play in 2009 and was made into a movie ‘Carnage’ starring Jodie Foster, John C Reilly, Kate Winslet and Christophe Waltz in 2010.
Directed by Adrienne Ledson, God of Carnage is this season’s SDC bar production - performed ‘in the round’ with the audience on all sides.
(Please note - there is no pre allocated seating for our bar productions - the seating plan online is for numbers only.)
