Join this fabulous workshop and learn a variety of hand-building techniques to make a characterful Gluggle Jug! Taught by potter Dave Short, finalist on The Great Pottery Throw Down 2024.
Gluggle jugs are fish shaped novelty jugs first produced in Staffordshire in the early 1800s. Due to their unique shape, they produce a glugging sound when in use, and always bring a smile to your face.
On arrival at the studio, you’ll be warmly welcomed as you join the rest of your small group. Dave will begin the workshop with a demonstration of how to make a gluggle jug, using slab and coil techniques. He will show you how to form the special clay shapes and structures required to make your piece. Then it’s your turn to get hands-on and have fun making and shaping your very own version.
