Glow Up! for Kids (3rd Saturdays, 1:30 pm in Seattle)

Glow Up! for Kids is suitable for children ages 4 - 7 & 8 - 12. * Please register at least 7 days before class so that Shelley can thoughtfully prepare materials and create the best experience possible for each participant.

These playful, supportive art classes are designed to help children build creativity, confidence, emotional awareness, and healthy self-expression through hands-on art experiences.

Using painting, mixed media, imaginative projects, movement-based creativity, and therapeutic arts-inspired exercises, kids learn how to express emotions in healthy, non-verbal ways — especially during moments when feelings feel too big or difficult to explain with words.

Children naturally process experiences through creativity and play. In this class, art becomes a safe outlet for stress, worries, overwhelm, excitement, energy, and imagination.

Activities may include:

✨ Scribbling, mark-making, and “painting the feelings out”
✨ Creative exercises that encourage calm, focus, and emotional regulation
✨ Imagination-building prompts that strengthen confidence and resilience

Developed by Shelley Irish after becoming a Certified Therapeutic Arts Coach, this program blends therapeutic arts concepts from Shelley’s adult program Creative Self Care with the most loved projects from her 24 years of teaching children’s art classes.

The result is a surprisingly fun, engaging, and approachable experience where kids gain valuable lifelong tools for emotional processing, stress relief, creative thinking, and self-understanding — all while simply feeling like they’re making art and having fun.
