Join us for the first ride of the year! Burn off those holiday calories and begin 2026 with a great start. Davy and Kelly Hazlegrove from Blackwater Bike Shop will be your ride leaders, so you know it'll be a fun time!Kelly will also be hosting a free skills clinic starting at 10am, prior to the group ride. This will mostly be geared towards new rider foundational skills. But if you're a seasoned rider and just need to freshen up your body positioning and/or handling skills, please join in! Meet in the Snowflex parking lot and check in with Kelly @ 10am. If you're interested in this clinic, a rough headcount would be nice, so please RSVP via email to [email protected]
When- Jan 1 2026, Skills clinic @ 10am, group ride @ 11am
Where- Candlers Mountain trail system. Meet at Snowflex parking lot. If the Snowflex parking lot is locked by some chance, we will meet at the lower parking lot (Askew Rd).
Who- We'll break into groups depending on attendance. Usually, we have 3 groups; a Fast group for those looking for a workout, good distance (10+ miles) at a tempo pace. An intermediate group that is 6-8 miles and hits the "fun" stuff (jump trails and fast descents). And a "Beginner-ish" group that uses the flatter trails and short on miles. But these groups all depend on who shows up :)
**Please note- Candlers Mountain trails aren't exactly beginner-friendly as there's a level of skill and fitness needed for most trails.
The ride will last approx 1-2hr. Please dress warm and bring water.
Helmets and GLOC waivers are required. Please print and sign a GLOC waiver from the link below. We'll also have some onsite the morning of the ride.
