Friction Presents celebrates 25 years of clubbing with a very special milestone event as the legendary Global Underground brand comes to Canberra. Headlining the celebration are two of the most respected artists in progressive and underground house music: James Zabiela and Danny Howells.
For generations of clubbers, Global Underground represents a defining chapter of dance music culture. The iconic mix series and global events helped shape the sound and spirit of underground electronic music, capturing legendary DJ performances in cities around the world. Now, the Global Underground tour touches down in Canberra as part of Friction's 25th birthday celebrations.
Danny Howells returns to the Friction booth after delivering an unforgettable performance at our previous birthday party. Bringing full 3 a.m. energy to a daytime dancefloor, Danny reminded everyone exactly why he remains one of the most revered selectors in the world.
Joining him is another Canberra favourite, James Zabiela. His first appearance in the capital at Lot33 more than two decades ago is still spoken about today. Known for his technical wizardry, deep musical knowledge and ability to create unforgettable journeys on the dancefloor, Zabiela's return is something the local community has been waiting a long time for.
Adding to the occasion is the return of one of Friction's very own. Jeff Drake, one of the founding members and original Friction resident DJs, returns to his old stomping ground for a special appearance. For many who were there in the early days, Jeff helped shape Friction's sound and identity. His return for this milestone celebration makes the night even more meaningful.
This event is a celebration of the community, the music and the dancefloors that have defined Friction over the past 25 years.
Expect a night of deep grooves, progressive energy and a dancefloor filled with the familiar faces that have made Friction what it is today.
