Global Infusions is a special monthly event where Oxytocin features teas and musical artists from unique regions of the world. The theme of this evening will be Rhythms & Roots: Native American Stories 🦅
Our performing artist of the night is Red Feather Woman, a Lakota singer and storyteller.
Rose Red Elk is an international performing arts entertainer, known by her Native American traditional and stage name, Red Feather Woman. She is an accomplished storyteller, singer, songwriter and author from the Fort Peck Reservation in Poplar, Montana, and a member of the Sioux/Assiniboine Tribes.
Her albums are a unique blend of traditional spoken word that weaves the traditional mysticism of Native American stories into original contemporary songs.
Red Feather Woman has toured extensively throughout the US and abroad. Sponsored by the US State Department, she has toured in Malta, Turkey and Pakistan for audiences numbering in the thousands. As a storyteller/musician focusing on blending tales of hope and spiritual survival, she has proved to be a true ambassador of peace and unity everywhere her stories are heard.
Her most important mission is the preservation of her peoples’ ancient culture and art form. She teaches (through performance) audiences the importance of Mother Earth and to reflect on their individual personal heritage. Her mission is to “Educate, Entertain and Enlighten her audiences.
This evening will be a blend of casual lounge-style hanging and more intentional listening to the stories that Rose Red Elk shares. Of course, we will also be sipping on some delicious teas that are traditional to the Native peoples of North America!
