Global Geopolitics and the Impact on Business Risk
About this Event
Organised by Professor Timothy Devinney, Alliance Manchester Business School.
On Thursday 2 July 2026, the University of Manchester will host a public panel as part of the Academy of International Business Conference, one of the world’s foremost gatherings on international business, trade, investment, policy, and global economic change. Bringing together nearly 1,500 scholars, policymakers, entrepreneurs, business leaders, and senior representatives from global institutions, the conference offers a unique opportunity for members of the executive community to engage with world-class discussion at no cost.
Focusing on today’s geopolitical realities, the panel will explore issues of immediate relevance to business and society. In particular, it will include debate on the wider effects of global geopolitical change on business activity.
This panel looks at the ongoing geopolitical events that affect trade and investment relationships between global powers including on-going wars. This significantly affects strategies adopted by firms across the world. The panel is a moderated discussion with leading experts: Mark Galeotti – author of more than a dozen books on Russia and the highly acclaimed Putin’s Wars: From Chechnya to Ukraine; and Olga Onuch – author of the The Zelensky Effect. The panel will be chaired by Prof. Christopher A. Hartwell (ZHAW, Switzerland), himself an expert on Russia, Ukraine and Eastern Europe.
We warmly invite you to register and join us for this exceptional opportunity to be part of a globally significant conversation.
