About this Event
Tackling methane emissions is not only one of the fastest near-term ways to slow the rate of climate change, it also bolsters energy security and ensures competitive advantages in global markets. Satellite-based methane data is equipping governments and the private sector with the information they need to find and fix methane super-emitters - offering a fast, cost-effective way to quickly address a major source of global warming.
With the U.S. federal government shifting away from climate leadership, states and international jurisdictions are stepping up to fill that gap and drive action. Carbon Mapper, alongside a growing ecosystem of methane data initiatives, is delivering more accessible global data on methane super-emitters - and working to translate that data into action. However, gaps remain in getting this data to decision-makers and securing the support needed to scale impact. Innovative organizations are producing a suite of data-to-action tools and strategies that are designed to help communities, private sector, and governments respond effectively to major methane events.
This event will explore the ways methane monitoring, measurement and data-to-action tools can help maintain methane momentum across the US - and globally - by empowering states, jurisdictions, and communities to achieve their reduction goals and protect public health.
What to expect:
- Showcasing of emerging data-to-action tools that are translating satellite data into local insights
- Deep dives into common barriers - such as data accessibility, funding, and regulatory shifts - and how programs are working to address them.
- Insights into how states are using these tools to shape policy and engage communities.
Join policymakers, regulators, community leaders, researchers, and philanthropies as we explore how this growing ecosystem of innovative technologies, groundbreaking data, and local leadership can sustain momentum on tackling methane.
Kindly note that space is limited, so we encourage you to secure your spot at your earliest convenience and please let us know if you register but are no longer able to attend.
