Glenn Caley Bachmann New Book Release

Among the less appreciated forms of public art are the inscriptions that people have left in wet cement. Many of these works are created under challenging conditions: the furtive, unanticipated moment when one discovers a pliable patch of cement, and the quick burst of inspiration it demands. Despite their relative permanence, they remain largely unnoticed by the multitudes passing by. San Francisco artist Glenn Caley Bachmann has made a point of noticing these etchings, and has been amassing an impressive collection of photographs over the past 23 years. He will be on hand November 8th to discuss his new book, “Word on the Street: A Treasury of San Francisco sidewalk art.”
