Registration : 8-9.30am
Start time: 10.15am
Entry Cost: £15
Information
‘Give it a Try-Athlon’ is back for it's third year and its better than ever! This is physically achievable fun, non-competitive fundraiser for Isle of Play and an introduction to the world of triathlons. Starting and finishing at Fenella Beach in Peel; the events are in reverse order to a usual triathlon… so you only have to do the cold swim at the end! Children are welcome to take part so long as they are accompanied by another adult compeitor.
The Legs
1st leg: 7km walk/run (completely up to you) starting at Fenella beach heading north before joining onto Ramsey to St Johns railway path and finishing behind the Tynwald Inn in St Johns.
2nd leg: 5km cycle to be completed at a tootle (or faster if you prefer) along the railway path line from St Johns to Peel, finishing at Fenella beach.
3rd leg: 1 width swim of Fenella beach or just spend 5 minutes in the sea squealing about how cold the water is (again completely up to you).
Once you’re out of the water, you can get wrapped up and changed under your custom Give it a Tryathlon poncho towel; collect your “I gave it a Tryathlon” certificate and new for this year a complemenary bag of chips!!! You can then head home, happy and with triathlon ticked from your bucket list.
Registration
Registration is at the bike drop off point behind the Tynwald Inn. Entrants will register with and receive a competitor number for their shirt and bike.
Once registered, entrants will leave their bike in the provided area and head to the start line at Fenella Beach.
Fundraising
We’re asking entrants to try and raise £50 a minimum sponsorship but this is not compulsory to you taking part, but it would help us raise much needed funds for Isle of Play!
Additional information for the day
You will need a bike, helmet to leave at the St Johns Car Park Behind the Tynwald Pub on the morning of the event between 8.00am-9.30am.
Registration on the day also happens here, where you will receive a unique number for you and your bike.
You will also need clothes/swimming costume you feel comfortable wearing. The water may be cold so we are obliged to recommend a wetsuit, though this is of your own choice.
In the event of adverse conditions the event will be moved to Sunday 24th May at the same time. We will endeavour to keep you posted of the likelihood of this in the week building up to the event.
