Give-A-Ruck 2024
Schedule
Sat May 18 2024 at 09:00 am
UTC-05:00Location
City View Independent School District | Wichita Falls, TX
You will select between the one-mile, five-mile, or ten-mile March or a team category. You can choose any type of weight to put in the pack, but we would like to suggest items to be donated to our homeless community (see recommended items below the route). We provide the aforementioned items to the homeless on the second Saturday of every month identified as “Operation Stand Down (OSD)”. This ruck event can be classified as an endurance event, a walk, or a fitness event but we like to think of it as an opportunity to Honor our Brave by walking a mile--or ten--in their boots.
The 5-mile & 10-mile are the competitive categories. If you choose to compete, you must weigh in with a minimum of 25lbs in the backpack. If a child chooses to compete, the weight is only 10lbs.
Teams can consist of no less than four and no more than ten people who register as a team. The team captain is the only one who needs to register; he/she must list all the team member's full name, e-mail address, and t-shirt size under the captain's registration. Please ensure each team member has read and agrees to the waiver statement, as well as the pack recommended items for the homeless community (listed below). As with our brave service men and women, there is no man left behind. You will start as a team, and you must finish as a team with all members accounted for. If the team is competing, the team must share an additional 25lb weight (of their own design) that will be carried by the team throughout the March.
Competition categories include first and second place for 5-mile & 10-mile, first and second place in Teams, first and second place for kids, most weight overall, and most weight overall for a Team.
Registration includes a t-shirt, medal, race bib, and a meal ticket for the Mess Hall (meal provided same day as event). Packet Pick up will take place from 5:00pm - 8:00 pm, Friday, May 17, 2024, at the same location as the event (City View ISD, 1600 A City View Dr, Wichita Falls, 76306). If you have not registered, there will be an additional $5 cost to register at the event. T-shirt sizes and availability cannot be guaranteed if you register later than April 27, 2024. The Mess Hall meal tickets are available at the event to non-registrants for $10 adults, $5 children 3-12 years of age and children under 3 will be able to eat free.
