Girls in Gis New Jersey - Berlin Gi & No-gi Event

Are you ready for some great Jiu Jitsu? because we are!

Girls in Gis is a community of women and girls in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that come together through donation based training events. They are hosted, instructed, and attended only by women and girls. It's our time to come together! All ages and skill levels from any academy affiliation are welcome to attend. No experience required. Our events are designed for 100% participation, but do allow chaperones to accompany underage participants as spectators.

Our events are donation based in order to provide equal opportunity to everyone. Your donations provide paid teaching opportunities for our guest instructor(s) and help to expand and make Girls in Gis programs such as our events, our leadership program and instructional training programs and our scholarships possible. If you are not able to make a donation please contact us and we will work with you so that you are able to participate.

You can also purchase a GIG t-shirt, patches and more GIG merchandise with your donation. All orders can be picked up during the event.

GIG New Jersey - Berlin Guest instructors: Felicia Rinier, Barbara Hagerty, Jen Russell & Joan DeAgro

Joan DeAgro is a 4x Master Wolds Champion, No Gi Worlds Master Silver Medalist Garry Tonon Black Belt. She is also an IBJJF Certified Black Belt and Instructor at Garry Tonon Jiu Jitsu.

Professor Felicia Rinier is a dedicated Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioner who has been training over twelve years. In 2023, she earned her black belt under Steve Bonjornio, becoming her school’s first female black belt. Felicia now serves as the head female jiu jitsu instructor at South Jersey Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, where she mentors and develops the next generation of athletes. Felicia has competed in local circuits, and brings her passion for the sport to the microphone as an amateur MMA commentator alongside her husband and fellow black belt, Matt Rinier.

Barbara Hagerty has dedicated 17 years to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Barbara brings experience, precision, and a passion for teaching to every seminar. She began training at a small academy in Pennsylvania where she trained mixed martial arts, self defense, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu before continuing her journey in New Jersey at Ocean County BJJ, where she earned her brown belt in 2021. In 2025, she received her black belt from Professor Bongiorno at South Jersey BJJ. Barbara is known for her detail-oriented instruction, strong fundamentals, and commitment to helping students of all levels elevate their Jiu-Jitsu.

Jen Russell is a 3rd degree black belt training at Ricardo Almeida Brazilian jiu jitsu. Jen began training in 2004 and is a multiple time IBJJF Masters Gi and No-Gi Champion.

COST: $20 Min Donation. All Donations Welcome.

ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST REGISTER ONLINE. ONLINE REGISTRATION WILL BE CLOSED 5/3/26 at 3:00 PM OR ONCE WE REACH CAPACITY. WALK-INS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ONCE CAPACITY IS REACHED.

Tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable and all sales are final. Doors open at 12:30 pm. Please arrive early to change and get ready or come ready so we may start on time at 1:00 pm.
