About this Event

Are you ready for some great Jiu Jitsu? because we are!

Girls in Gis is a community of women and girls in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that come together through donation based training events. They are hosted, instructed, and attended only by women and girls. It's our time to come together! All ages and skill levels from any academy affiliation are welcome to attend. No experience required. Our events are designed for 100% participation, but do allow chaperones to accompany underage participants as spectators.

Our events are donation based in order to provide equal opportunity to everyone. Your donations provide paid teaching opportunities for our guest instructor(s) and help to expand and make Girls in Gis programs such as our events, our leadership program and instructional training programs and our scholarships possible. If you are not able to make a donation please contact us and we will work with you so that you are able to participate.

You can also purchase a GIG t-shirt, patches and more GIG merchandise with your donation. All orders can be picked up during the event.

GIG Louisiana-Thibodaux Guest instructors: Aimee Moran & Jamie Prescod

Aimee Moran is a brown belt under Shawn Gayton, and co-owner/manager of Delta Training Center in Thibodaux. For her, competition is not a priority at the moment, allowing her to expand her knowledge of jiu jitsu through teaching, enjoying a concepts and anatomy based understanding of grappling. She teaches Adult Gi Jiu Jitsu on Wednesdays. Since February, she has hosted monthly women’s open mats to support the South Louisiana women’s jiu jitsu community and provide opportunity for rolling outside of competition.

Jamie Prescod is a brown belt under Shawn Gayton, and has trained for 9 years. While she enjoys the challenge and pace of nogi training, she wears the gi to continue to grow in the sport. She instructed kids classes at Mid City MMA for 8 years, perfecting communicating complex jiu jitsu ideas in a simple and fun manner. Jamie has competed in groundbreaking women’s only tournaments, the first women’s High Rollerz event, as well as being a finalist in the first women’s Onnit Invitational. Outside of jiu jitsu, she is a barber and mom of two beautiful and strong girls who also participate in the sport.

COST: $20 Min Donation. All Donations Welcome.

ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST REGISTER ONLINE. ONLINE REGISTRATION WILL BE CLOSED 11/9/24 at 12:00 PM OR ONCE WE REACH CAPACITY. WALK-INS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ONCE CAPACITY IS REACHED.

Tickets are non-refundable, non-transferable and all sales are final. Doors open at 11:30 am. Please arrive early to change and get ready or come ready so we may start on time at 12:00 pm.
