Girls in Gis Hawaii - Kihei Event
About this Event
Are you ready for some great Jiu Jitsu? because we are!
Girls in Gis is a community of women and girls in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that come together through donation based training events. They are hosted, instructed, and attended only by women and girls. It's our time to come together! All ages and skill levels from any academy affiliation are welcome to attend. No experience required. Our events are designed for 100% participation, but do allow chaperones to accompany underage participants as spectators.
Our events are donation based in order to provide equal opportunity to everyone. Your donations provide paid teaching opportunities for our guest instructor(s) and help to expand and make Girls in Gis programs such as our events, our leadership program and instructional training programs and our scholarships possible. If you are not able to make a donation please contact us and we will work with you so that you are able to participate.
You can also purchase a GIG t-shirt, patches and more GIG merchandise with your donation. All orders can be picked up during the event.
GIG Hawaii - Kihei Guest instructors: Aline Krisner & Ana Karolina Araujo
Aline Krisner has been practicing jiu jitsu for over 30 years and has lived in several parts of the world such as Dubai, London, New York, and, most recently, Los Angeles. Her objective is to learn from the legends by always looking to attend the best BJJ schools in the world. As a student, she worked with great masters like Roger Gracie and Renzo Gracie, ending up on the Checkmat Team where she was promoted to black belt by Leo Vieira, the Checkmat founder. Aline is a hungry competitor and also does super fights in private events like Fight To Win. Aline is the founder of Maui’s Womens Open Mat Wahine Rollers. Jiu jitsu helped Aline overcome all the difficulties she has had in life, and now she wants to give back to the same community. Aline has the gift of teaching and serving. She is a charismatic teacher who passes her love for BJJ on to her students.
Ana Karolina Araujo began her Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey in 2008 at Alliance Jiu-Jitsu in Brazil. During which time she was an avid competitor. Since returning to the mats in 2022, she has dedicated herself to coaching and sharing her passion for the art with others while persuading her passion as a competitor.
Based in Maui, Hawaii, Karol is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and self-defense instructor at Pacific Jiu Jitsu, where she teaches children, adults, women, and competitors. She is passionate about creating a positive learning environment that helps students build confidence, strong fundamentals, and resilience both on and off the mats.
Karol believes Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is more than a martial art—it is a tool for personal growth, discipline, and empowering people to become the best version of themselves.
