Join us at Battleship Cove as we dive deep into what it takes to be a girl scout and earn your badges!
Workshop Offerings:
Craft and Tinker/Mechanical Engineering: Fling Flyer Combo September 25
Join us at Battleship Cove as we teach you about aerodynamics and how the science of flight has changed over the last 150 years. Girl Scouts will make their own fling flyer and determine if their intervention can soar through the skies. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to create your own catapult and learn about mechanical engineering. Trial, error, and rebuilding are the key lessons to problem solving and crafting solutions! Open to Brownie Girl Scouts. Both the Brownie Craft and Tinker Badge, and the Brownie Mechanical Engineering: Fling Flyer Badge, are included. This does not include touring of the ship as this is an after hours workshop. This is not a drop off event. No workshop fee for adults.
Junior Craft and Tinker/ Mechanical engineering: Paddle Boat Combo October 23
Join us at Battleship Cove as we paddle our way to perfection. Take a journey back in time to the days to the Old Fall River Line as we talk about the luxury passenger lines that carried people to and from Boston before there were any cars. Girl Scouts will create their own paddle boat to test and modify. Like the competition to build the fastest paddle boat one hundred years ago, you will be racing your boats. Open to Junior Girl Scouts. Both the Junior Craft and Tinker Badge, and the Junior Mechanical Engineering: Paddle Boat Badge, are included. This does not include touring of the ship as this is an after hours workshop. This is not a drop off workshop. No workshop fee for adults
Cadette Space Science Researcher November 20
Join us at Battleship Cove as we study one of the fastest things in the universe, light. Light travels for millions of miles, which we use to trace shapes in the night sky, or it can melt our ice cream. Girl Scouts will learn that there is more light than meets the eye and gain a deeper understanding of the light we use every day. Additionally, you will learn how your eyes work in low light and how to protect our skies from light pollution. Open to Cadette Girl Scouts. Cadette Space Science Researcher Badge included. **This does not include touring of the ships as this is an after hours workshop. This is not a drop off event. No workshop fee for adults.
Junior Detective and Playing the Past (2:00-4:30pm) February 17
Highly encourage girl scouts that live outside of the Bristol County area to attend as this takes place during school vacation week
Join us at Battleship Cove as we combine the past and sleuthing into one workshop! Girl Scouts will learn about the fundamentals of becoming a detective and solve the “crime” that has taken place on the Battleship. But before the Girl Scouts can solve the mystery, they must become one with the time period and transform themselves into detectives from the 1940s! Open to Juniors. Junior: Playing the Past and Detective Badge included. This does not include touring of the ship as this is an afterhours workshop. This is not a drop off event. No workshop fee for adults.
Brownie Space Science Adventure March 26
Join us at Battleship Cove as we investigate the complexities of the sky and learn to see things in a new way. Girl Scouts will learn about what surrounds planet earth and how each planet is different from the next. Did you know that you would be a different age on every planet you visit? Additionally, Girl Scouts will learn about the moon and how the phases/ rotations affect its neighboring planet. Just like how different moon phases happen every day, Girl Scouts will learn about the different constellations you will see in the sky based on the season. Open to Brownies. Brownie: Space Science Adventurer Badge included. This does not include touring of the ship as this is an afterhours workshop. This is not a drop off event. No workshop fee for adults.
Junior Detective and Playing the Past April 30

Girl Scouts will learn about the fundamentals of becoming a special agent and how that can involve psychology, law, and science to solve the crime. A visit to the Battleship that sounds fun and normal, comes to an abrupt halt when the Girl Scouts find themselves in the middle of an artifact heist. Using their investigative skills, finding the clues, and interrogating staff, can they solve the crime and save the museum’s precious artifact? Open to Cadettes. In this workshop we will take a look back at the fashion of the 1940s and how they were able to look like a million dollars with only a few ration stamped. Girl Scouts will be making and testing their own beauty guru’s they will make their predictions of what fashion might be like int he future. Open to Senior Girl Scouts.
