Giant Puppet-Making Workshop
About this Event
Join us in building a larger-than-life giant puppet
Help create a towering, comical giant inspired by the traditional ballad of Robin Hood and the Bishop of Hereford. Using found, recycled, and natural materials, we'll work together to bring this pompous bishop to life, ready to be outwitted by Robin Hood and compelled to dance his famous forest jig!
No previous art, craft, or construction experience is required, everyone over 18 is welcome.
What We'll Build Together
The Skeleton
Construct a strong yet flexible giant framework using willow, bamboo, and traditional making techniques.
The Face
Create a dramatic and expressive face, transforming a recycled puppet head into an outraged Bishop of Hereford.
The Costume
Dress the giant in colourful, extravagant robes crafted from reclaimed fabrics and natural materials.
The Performance
Learn how to animate and operate the giant as a team, culminating in a lively final performance.
