Tamworth Castle is a Grade I listed building. The history begins in the 11th century when the Normans built the castle. Today, it is one of the best-preserved motte-and-bailey castles in England.
Dating back to Anglo-Saxon times. The castle overlooks the mouth of the river Anker, Tamworth, Staffordshire.

Numerous ghost stories have been told over the years, but did you know that three ghosts are said to haunt Tamworth Castle?
Home to many a notable family. In the 16th century, the castle was partially destroyed during the English Civil and was rebuilt in the Victorian area.

So, what spirits continue to live here?
One is said to be the most famous of them all, and that is the “Green Lady”. Who we believe to be the ghost of Lady Elizabeth Drury, who was imprisoned in the castle for her part in the Babington plot to assassinate Queen Elizabeth I. She is still seen, to this day, walking around the rooms.
Another ghost said to haunt the castle is that of a man in black, understood to be the ghost of a soldier who was killed during the English Civil War, but what is said by the many people who have seen this ghost is that he appears to be friendly. Well, we need to find out for ourselves.
