About Insole Court
The Insoles were pioneering coal-shippers and mine-owners, railwaymen and docks men. Their home first built in 1855 survives in Llandaff, on the outskirts of Cardiff. During World War II Insole Court was the regional Air Raid Warden HQ, and housed the Royal Observer Corps and Auxiliary Fire Service for Cardiff district. Since the war, the court has accommodated the Traffic Police, council offices and self-contained flats for local authority employees as well as education classes and a public library. Throughout the years Insole Court became a much loved community centre.
Over the years many strange things have been seen by staff members and visitors which cannot be explained. From the sounds of children coming from empty rooms, a mysterious woman in black and the sight of a ghostly black dog that vanishes into thin air.
