Get to Know the Building Division

All are welcome to attend this event, from builders to residents. We are specifically aiming to address community concerns and questions regarding building within the city, and to curtail misinformation, rumors, or accusations that may be circulating. We want the residents to feel informed and able to have your questions answered right from the source.

Those registering may also submit questions in advance to be covered during the event or may send these questions to the Building Division at [email protected].
Building Division staff will introduce themselves and explain their roles. There will be a short presentation followed by an opportunity for attendees to ask questions. Staff in attendance will include the city’s Chief Building Official, Plans Examiner, Permit Technicians, and field inspectors.
The city’s Building Division oversees regulation of construction of residential and commercial structures, from the trench to the top of the roof. They do not enforce codes related to planning and zoning, such as lot clearing, grading and erosion, or trees.
