In the mid 60s, youth clubs across the country, and particularly in the North West, were alive with the sound of Young America and the legendary Tamla Motown label.
For young Mods, Motown became the soundtrack to their nights out, heard in youth clubs and the small backstreet clubs springing up in towns across the country. Its influence went on to shape generations of music, with its sound paving the way for disco, house and countless other musical offshoots.
From the 70s onwards, Motown became a firm favourite with DJs and has provided the soundtrack to countless weddings, parties and nights out. Even today, the music remains as relevant, loved and danceable as ever.
