Step back into 18th-century Rowan County — Germanfest is coming to the Old Stone House!
Every September, Rowan Museum throws open the doors of the 1766 Michael Braun House for a day that brings Rowan County's German heritage roaring to life. Wander through a working colonial homestead where blacksmiths hammer at the forge, weavers work the loom, and costumed reenactors share what daily life was really like for the German settlers who shaped this region.
🍺 Raise a glass — New Sarum Brewing pours unique craft beer onsite
🧺 Shop handmade — Local vendors sell honey, soap, lotion, and other handcrafted goods.
🐓 Meet the animals — Small farm animals and colonial-era toys and games for the kids.
⛪ Learn something new — Booths exploring German American culture, church history, and the families who built this community.
🥨 Eat well — Concessions on-site all day.
This is not your typical Oktoberfest — it's a genuine, family-friendly window into the German roots that helped build Rowan County. Bring the whole family and discover a piece of history you didn't know was right in your backyard!
$5 for adults, $3 children.
