Georgii Moroz, Violin Finalist of the Sibelius Violin Competition

Georgii Moroz was born on April 7, 2001, in Kyiv, Ukraine in a family of musicians. The one started to play the violin at the age of five. From 2012 Georgii was studying at Kyiv Lysenko State Music Lyceum under Olha Korinets and successfully graduated in 2018 with many honors.
From 2019 to 2023 Georgii got his Bachelor degree at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music (Singapore). In a class of Professor Qian Zhou, Georgii has started actively performing and establishing himself on the internationally recognized stages.
Georgii was a concertmaster of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine and performed with many orchestras and chamber ensembles that included string quartets (where one plays viola sometimes), piano trios, duos, etc. Georgii is also a winner of many all-Ukrainian and international violin competitions, such as the International violin competition "Eugen Coca" (XIX, XXI) - Kishinev, Moldova; International violin competition "Cornelia Bronzetti" (2014) - Romania; International violin competition "Grumiaux" (2017) - Brussels, Belgium; "Leonid Kogan" all-Ukrainian violin competition (2018) - Ukraine. Georgii became a semi-finalist of Singapore International Violin Competition (2022) and quarter-finalist of Montreal International Music Competition (2023).
Georgii is a prize winner of the XII International Jean Sibelius Competition (2022) - Helsinki, Finland; Second prize winner of the 9th Munetsugu Angel Violin Competition (2023) - Nagoya, Japan.
Georgii has appeared as soloist with orchestras such as the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, YST Symphony Orchestra, Chubu Philharmonic Orchestra, and more.
Georgii had two radio-broadcasted recitals in the Bucharest Philharmonic (2014,2016). Georgii had masterclasses and was mentored by artists such as Shlomo Mintz, Midori Goto, Chaim Taub, Vilmos Szabadi, Ilia Kaler, Shmuel Ashkenasi, Vadim Gluzman, Krzysztof Wegrzyn, Dmitry Berlinsky, Sergei Ostrosky, Evgeny Bushkov and many others. Georgii is currently studying at Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin in the class of Professor Antje Weithaas.
Georgii is currently playing on the 1840 F. Pressenda "Ex-Poulet" violin kindly loaned by the Nippon Violin foundation.
