A guided tasting through Georgia's ancient qvevri wines & native grapes - 8,000 years of winemaking, one seriously good night.
About this Event

Before France, before Italy, before anyone else had figured out what to do with a grape - there was Georgia. We're heading 8,000 years back to where it all began, with an evening dedicated to one of the world's oldest and most under-the-radar wine countries.

Join us for a exciting guided tasting through a line-up of Georgian wines, led by Colm Douglas of Le Caveau Wine Merchants, one of the first importers in Ireland to embrace the incredible history and culture of Georgian wine porduction here in Ireland. Colm willl talk you through what he saw and learned first hand on a visit to Georgia last year makes this region so wildly different from anything else in your glass - no jargon, no pretension, just good stories and even better wine.

On the night, we'll explore wines made the traditional way - fermented and aged in qvevri, egg-shaped clay vessels buried in the ground - alongside more modern interpretations from the same soil. Expect skin-contact wines (the original "orange wine," long before it was a trend), textured whites & bold reds from native grapes like Saperavi, and a few bottles that'll have you questioning everything you thought you knew about how wine "should" taste.

Can 8,000 years of winemaking tradition still hold up against the modern world? Come find out.

Amber wines. Ancient clay. Grapes you've never heard of. One of the fastest growing wine producing countries in Ireland. Check.

Alongside the wines, we've got you covered with cheese and nibbles from Sweeney's deli - proper grazing food to keep the evening ticking along nicely.

And because good wine deserves a second glass at home: everyone gets 10% off any of the featured wines on the night.

Expect a warm, easy-going atmosphere - this is a room for curious drinkers & enthusiasts alike. Come with questions, come with friends, come thirsty.

Spaces are limited, so grab your ticket early to avoid missing out.
