Fishing for some unique ways to spend time as a family over the summer? You're sure to get hooked on one event we help host. The George Modock Jr. Memorial Fishing Derby commemorates the memory of George Modock Jr., an avid fisherman and family man who enjoyed sharing this hobby with his children. His family keeps his legacy alive by hosting this event with the City as a way to bring North Royalton families together to create lasting memories. Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the Memorial Park pond. Kids will fish from 10 a.m. to noon, competing in three age groups -- 7-9, 10-12, and 13-15. Afterward stay for treats! Lang's Butcher Block and Deli is providing hot dogs, the Mayor's Office will be popping popcorn and the Modock Family is the sweetest, providing cookies from noon to 1 p.m. The winners can reel in more than a big catch. We'll also award trophies, and the Modocks will be preseting gift certificates! Join us as we kick off summer and our event season!
