Geology Hike to Eagle Rock

Think the Boise Foothills are just dirt and sagebrush? Come see what millions of years of tectonic rifting, ancient lakes, and volcanic history look like on a quick, easy geology hike up Eagle Rock!
Join IMMG, Eliza Schulz, on a 1/2-mile geology hike to Eagle Rock and learn about the earth below your feet.
Eliza Schulz will meet hikers at 7:45 am within steps of the IMMG in the Old Pen dirt parking lot near the Ridge to Rivers trail sign and will leave with hikers at 8:00 am. She will lead you up the hillside at a relaxed pace. At various points, she will talk about the features of the hillside, the type of rocks, how the hills were formed, what produced the Treasure Valley below and more.
The geo-hike is appropriate for children and adults who can walk/hike for up to 2 hours. Because of the summer heat, the hike will end by 10:00 am.
Please wear sturdy walking shoes, wear a sun hat, bring your own water and dress for the weather.
Everyone must pre-register. https://www.idahomuseum.org/event/geology-hike-to-eagle-rock/
Eliza served as the IMMG's Education Director for seven years, retiring 2 years ago to raise her 2 children. She has a BS in Geology from BSU, continues to volunteer at the IMMG and serves as Vice President of the Board of Trustees. Eliza is recognized as an excellent teacher of the earth sciences so you won't want to miss this hike.
