Our God brings order to the universe, and He created the laws by which all things operate.
About this Event
In this seminar, Dr. Nadine Ushakov will speak on how geology and the Bible work together to reveal the history of our planet. We will learn how radiometric dating and geochronology tell us how long it took for the universe to expand and planets to form, and we’ll explore the Earth’s long, complex geologic history, including different continental arrangements, climates and life cycles. Throughout, we will see that there was a divine purpose and intention in the way our planet was created.
Nadine Ushakov is an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Dallas in the department of Sustainable Earth Systems Sciences. She has a BSc and PhD in geophysics from the University of Calgary, Canada, where her main focus of research was on earthquakes due to energy projects. From 2021 to 2023, she was at the University of Texas at Austin as a postdoctoral fellow working in the Jackson School of Geosciences. There, she worked on earthquake source physics and on mechanisms of induced seismicity in Texas, as well as teaching a field geophysics course in New Mexico. She has been at the University of Texas at Dallas since 2023, and her current research is on using various geophysical techniques to study earthquakes, fluid flow and rock properties.
