Genie Nakano is a poet, Qigong teacher, and former dancer whose work explores nature, aging, memory, family, and the small moments that connect us to one another. A Japanese American sansei, she has spent a lifetime studying movement, creativity, and mindfulness through the arts.
Her poetry and tanka have appeared in journals and anthologies in the United States and Japan. She currently teaches Gentle Qigong in Gardena, California, combining graceful movement, imagery, and joy for older adults.
Whether on the page or in the classroom, Genie seeks to inspire a sense of wonder, presence, and connection. She is delighted to be sharing her work at the Ugly Mug this evening.
