The General de Lafayette Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution warmly invites you to join the 180th Church Anniversary celebration and the unveiling of an inspiring Historical Marker. Bethel African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church in Lafayette, Indiana, established in 1846, is the oldest Black church in Tippecanoe. This historic DAR marker honors Richard Allen, the founder of the AME Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and abolitionist Frederick Douglass, who visited Lafayette to support this church.
