Do you have a veteran in your family tree? In this presentation, learn about sources, tips, and tricks that you can use to learn about your military ancestor from the Civil War to the present. Presentations below focus on a particular conflict. Presenter Russ Horton, Wisconsin Veterans Museum Reference and Outreach Archivist, grew up in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. His position at the museum is primarily to help researchers learn more about Wisconsin’s veterans. Those researchers include genealogists working on family trees, local historians studying the veterans in their community, students researching for projects, and professional historians writing books. He also intakes collection donations.
Russ will be presenting his program for the Genealogy Group that meets the first Saturday of the month at the library and online, and for all others who may be interested in beginning or refining a search for a military family member.
You don’t need to register if you plan to attend in person, but do plan to come early since seating is limited. There is no cost for the program. All are welcome. Register here for Zoom link https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeAN6GOVpgP7QuN8DSiNF97K-77vgDjaIOn53VVjDWhJxN4Kw/viewform
