Prieš dešimt metų, kai vietos mums būti kartu trūko, pradėjome ją kurti pačios.
Po sekmadieninių krepšinio susitikimų kartą nutarėme surengti vakarėlį. Neturėdamos ankstesnės patirties, pačios stojome groti prie DJ pulto. Pavadinome vakarėlį “gender wrongs” – nes norėjome pašiepti lyčių stereotipus bei išvaizdos klišes, jaustis nevaržomai ir išbandyti įvairiausius savo pačių pavidalus.
Nuo tada keliavome po Vilnių – jau 15 vietų ir daugiau – ir už jo ribų: Kauną, Klaipėdą, kvyrindamos barus ir šokių aikšteles bei kurdamos erdvę sau. Kartais būdavome sutinkamos išskėstomis rankomis, kartais nustebindavome barų savininkus, o kartais palikdavome blizgučius kaip ženklą, kad ten buvome.
Garsas nutrūkdavo, perėjimai tarp kūrinių būdavo chaotiški, o muzika netikėtai pasisukdavo kita kryptimi, bet salės vis tiek likdavo pilnos. Nesiekėme tobulumo – svarbiausia buvo būti kartu.
Tai, ką kuriame naktį šokių aikštelėje, gyvuoja ir dieną gatvėse. Jau dešimt metų ta pati bendruomenė ir ta pati energija kasmet kovo 8-ąją išeina į gatves kalbėti apie laisvę – apie gyvenimą be kontrolės ir smurto, apie teisę gyventi savo kūnuose be gėdos, priimti sprendimus, sakyti „ne“ ir būti išgirstoms.
Taigi šįkart Gender Wrongs kartu su bendražygėmis turi dvi progas švęsti bei paminėti:

💌 Įėjimas: nuo 5 € (tik grynais). Visos surinktos lėšos bus skirtos Kovo 8-osios eitynių organizavimui ir „Gender Wrongs“ veiklai.

🎨 Vakarėlio metu vyks plakatų dirbtuvės, skirtos pasirengti Kovo 8-osios eitynėms (atsinešk savo šūkius, jausmus, dramą - ir, jei gali, kartono)

10 years ago, when there wasn’t enough space for us to be together, we started creating it ourselves.
After one of our Sunday basketball meetups, we decided to throw a party. With no prior experience, we stepped up to the DJ booth ourselves. We called the party “Gender Wrongs” – because we wanted to push back against gender stereotypes and appearance clichés, to feel free and unrestricted, and to experiment with the many different versions of ourselves.
Since then, we’ve travelled across Vilnius – 15 venues and counting – and beyond: to Kaunas and Klaipėda, queering bars and dance floors while creating space for ourselves. Sometimes we were welcomed with open arms, sometimes we surprised bar owners, and sometimes we left glitter behind as a sign that we had been there.
The sound would cut out, transitions between tracks were chaotic, and the music would suddenly shift direction — but the dance floors stayed full anyway. We weren’t striving for perfection – what mattered most was being together.
What we create at night on the dance floor lives on during the day in the streets. For 10 years, the same community and the same energy have taken to the streets every March 8th to speak about freedom – about living without control and violence, about the right to live in our bodies without shame, to make decisions, to say “no,” and to be heard.
So this time, Gender Wrongs, together with our comrades, have two reasons to celebrate:

💌 Entry: from €5 (cash only). All funds collected will go toward organising the March 8th march and supporting “Gender Wrongs” activities.

🎨 During the party, there will be poster-making workshops to prepare for the March 8th march (bring your slogans, feelings, drama — and, if you can, some cardboard).

We’re committed to highlighting the voices and identities that usually don’t get centred, especially focusing on the experiences of queer women and non-binary people.
