About this Event
Gender Based Violence and Domestic Abuse in relation to Major Sporting Events and the Importance of Male Allyship – Guest Speakers & Panel Discussion.
The effects of gender based/domestic violence in the home have far reaching consequences for women in the workplace. This includes higher absenteeism, reduced productivity, job losses and the impact on mental health and economic security. Research shows that incidents of domestic abuse spike during major sporting events.
The forthcoming World Cup provides an opportune moment to raise awareness about the devastating consequences of domestic violence, focussing on the impact at work and study.
This event aims to raise awareness of domestic abuse, to increase the knowledge of Line Managers and Colleagues, so that we as a community are able to effectively support colleagues and students who are experiencing it. It will also explore the role of male allyship and how this can be used to tackle domestic violence through our relationships at work, study and in our personal lives.
