ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Amelia June Ferguson is a second year MA Fashion at Toronto Metropolitan University’s Fashion Studies program and holds a BDes (Hons.) from the TMU Fashion Design program. Her creative work incorporates both experimental weaving and embroidery techniques, incorporating art-based research methods and deconstructivist philosophies as a way to evolve her embroidered art pieces.
Evangeline Y Brooks is a postcyber artist interested in how we coexist with computers, working to maintain sustainable, accessible, and DIY artist communities against cultures of immediacy. Her practice engages with digital imagery bridging IRL, passing data back and forth over mediums and celebrating lost information. She is the Programming Manager at InterAccess and co-hosts the A/V showcase ponyHAUS.
Together, they continue to support each other's practices and work collaboratively. Most recently, Amelia supported the fabric preparation of Evangeline's Nuit Blanche installation, which showed at All Oours Studios last year. This work, created with Pegah Peivandi, was focused on community narrative and included stories and voice recordings of neighbors reflecting on what home meant to them, and how this changes over time, and as the neighborhood shifts around them.
