About this Event
Birds, Bikes & Brooklyn Greenways
Note: This ride is for women and nonbinary riders who are comfortable biking on city streets; this is not a ride for beginners.
Join us for a relaxed group ride through Brooklyn to visit the Naval Cemetery Landscape (NCL), a unique native meadow built and operated by Brooklyn Greenway Initiative.
We’ll ride together along portions of the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway to reach this special site, where native plants support a surprising diversity of birdlife. Once there, we’ll park our bikes and take part in a guided walk to learn how plant and management choices on site affect local ecology and create bird habitat.
We’ll also have the chance to speak with on-site gardeners and learn about the NCL and the Greenway and what goes into maintaining their beauty and accessibility for everyone!
This is a social, no-drop ride with time to pause, observe, and connect—with each other and with the natural spaces woven into the city. No prior birding experience needed.
What to expect

- Guided bird walk and time for self-guided exploration
