GD&Talk: A PNW Roundtable on Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
About this Event
Hosted by SME Puget Sound Chapter 39 and Edmonds College
Manufacturing is facing a serious skills gap, and GD&T sits right in the middle of it. As experienced engineers and machinists retire, the ability to read, interpret, and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing is becoming one of the most in-demand and hardest to find skills in the industry. For students and early-career professionals, it's also one of the clearest ways to stand out when applying for engineering positions.
That's why SME Puget Sound Chapter 39 and Edmonds College are teaming up. Together, we're working to bridge that gap by connecting the region's engineering community with the next generation of manufacturing talent, and by creating opportunities like this one to learn directly from the people who use GD&T every day.
Join us for The GD&Talk, a regional roundtable bringing together engineers, machinists, quality professionals, inspectors, educators, and students from across the Pacific Northwest. This isn't a lecture. It's an open conversation where your questions, your war stories, and your shop's toughest tolerance headaches are the agenda. Students, this is your chance to hear firsthand what employers actually look for, ask questions in a low-pressure setting, and start building the professional network that lands interviews.
Who should attend: manufacturing and design engineers, quality and inspection professionals, machinists and CNC programmers, educators, and students exploring careers in advanced manufacturing. All experience levels are welcome, and the mix is what makes it good.
