GCSA Summer Work Days – Help Us Get Ready for Fall!The Greene County Soccer Association maintains about 13 cleared acres—and it takes a lot of work to prep the facility each fall season! This year, we’re hosting a series of summer work days to tackle projects together as a community.
Whether you can come for the full evening or just drop in for part of the time, we’d love to have you! Every bit of help makes a difference. We’ve outlined a few dates below, but we’ll update the Facebook event details if plans shift due to weather or if we finish tasks early.
✅ July 1st (4:30 PM - 7:30 PM) – To-Do List
Moved ~1/2 the fill dirt
✅ July 31 (4:30 PM - 7:30 PM) – To-Do List
Spread fill dirt, seed, straw, and water
Cut and remove fallen tree limbs and brush
Trim overhanging trees
Locate all existing field corners and spray to keep them visible
Layout the 9U and 11U fields
Clean up and remove old construction materials (behind the trailer)
Measure goals and assess nets; make a list of equipment needed for fall
✅ August 9 (10:00 AM - 2:00 PM)
Place new signage (Speed Limit, One-Way, Reserved Parking)
Replace banner post hardware
Install additional banner posts (if time allows)
Assemble and move goals into place
Relocate large disassembled goals (heavy—will need extra hands!)
Move picnic tables into ideal locations
✅ August 14th (4:30-7:30 PM) - Final Prep Day
Clean up and re-mulch around the road sign
Replace and refresh the facility welcome sign area
W**d eat all around the complex
Trim low-hanging tree branches along the drive
Line fields
Complete any remaining tasks
🧰 Tools & Supplies
If you have tools that match the week’s projects—like shovels, wheelbarrows, post drivers, rakes, trimmers, or gloves—please bring them along! GCSA has a limited number of tools on site, so anything extra helps us work more efficiently. That said, if you don’t have tools, just bring yourself—two hands are a huge help!
