About this Event

Join Aura Freedom and Women's Habitat of Etobicoke as we co-host the Wrapped in Courage Flag Raising event at Toronto City Hall!
Let's raise our voices together on Fri Nov 21, 2025 at 2:00 PM EST to end Intimate Partner and Gender-Based Violence in our communities. We invite you to come together in person to celebrate the courage and strength of survivors of Gender-Based Violence - and all those who walk beside them. All advocates, survivors, community members and allies are welcome.
As organizations both dedicated to eradicating gender-based violence and supporting victims and survivors, Aura Freedom and Women's Habitat are proud to participate in OAITH's annual Wrapped in Courage campaign, which commemorates Woman Abuse Prevention Month and kicks off the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
The event will begin at 2:00pm in the Rotunda Area on the main floor, where you are invited to explore Aura Freedomโs Behind Closed Doors femicide installation. At 2:30pm, the program will begin in Committee Room 4 with remarks from community members and leaders, light refreshments, and the raising of the flag on the podium roof at 4:00pm. The event will be complete by 4:30pm.
Security check is required. We encourage you to wear a purple scarf to mark this occasion. If you don't have one, you can get one there!
As we continue our collective work to address the epidemic of GBV in the face of rising misogyny, it has never been more important to break the silence and stand together in solidarity against the increasing rates of femicide and violence against women, girls, and gender-diverse people in our communities.
Stay tuned for more agenda updates as the event develops.

Before the event, explore Aura Freedom's Behind Closed Doors installation which will be housed inside City Hall in the Rotunda Area for 6 days during the 16 Days of Activism to End GBV.
