Dance Revolt - Full Day Dance Conference

A day dedicated to exploring the rich educational opportunities within the world of dance. Open to students in grades 8-12, as well as college and university students, this conference offers a unique blend of dance education, cultural exploration, and creative expression that aligns seamlessly with the Ontario Dance Curriculum.

• “Dance Revolt” dives deep into the heart of two dynamic dance forms, Hip Hop and Dancehall. These styles are more than just dance; they are living expressions of culture and history.

• Cultural Awareness: Through workshops and discussions, students will gain a deeper understanding of the cultural roots and social contexts of Hip Hop and Dancehall, aligning with the curriculum’s emphasis on cultural appreciation.
• Choreographic Skills: Workshops led by experienced instructors will enhance students’ choreographic abilities, allowing them to create and interpret dance pieces with confidence.
• Historical Context: Students will explore the historical evolution of dance, connecting the dots between past and present dance forms, aligning with curriculum guidelines on historical understanding.
• Creative Expression: “Dance Revolt” encourages students to express themselves creatively, fostering self-discovery and self-expression, which is a core aspect of the Ontario Dance Curriculum.
• Networking and Community: The conference provides a platform for students to build relationships with fellow dancers, instructors, and the broader dance community, promoting collaboration and a sense of belonging.
