The Great Gatsby Talk & Tour is back for part two: Beneath the Glamour on Thursday, April 16 at 6:30pm.Glamour, glitter, and the allure of the American Dream dominate The Great Gatsby while a harsher reality exists in the shadows. The second part of our talk and tour series will begin with a rare, behind-the-scenes tour of the service areas of Hempstead House.
Then, instructors from The Story Round invite you to take a closer look at the lives of George and Myrtle Wilson, the servants of East and West Egg, and the Valley of Ashes. We will explore how Fitzgerald portrays the lower classes through the lens of the privileged Nick Carraway and how his personal biases impact the narrative.
Join us for this thought-provoking discussion on invisible labor, exploitation, and the human cost of a society obsessed with wealth and status. Participation in part one is not necessary!
