Step into the spirit of Mid-Century Modern design through a hands-on creative experience inspired by the iconic architecture of the desert. In this three-week series, participants will craft sculptural accordion houses using bold colors, and playful geometry that define the era. Most materials are included but a small, suggested material list will be provided to each participant prior to date.

Mid-Century Modern design (1945-1970) celebrates simplicity, optimism and the seamless flow between indoor and outdoor living. This workshop brings those principles to life through paper-based construction, color exploration and creative expression.

Alongside the artistic process each class is designed to support grounding, focus and emotional ease. Through mindful art making, participants experience how tactile engagement can quiet the mind, reduce stress and open space for reflection.

By the end of the series, each participant will complete a unique accordion house, modernism-inspired with the reminder of the calming power of creative practice.

Judy Nemer Sklar is an experienced and interdisciplinary artist and Expressive Arts Facilitator with over 20 years of experience integrating visual arts, creative writing, and mindfulness practices into education, wellness, and community programs that foster creativity, resilience, and emotional well-being in diverse populations. She has exhibited nationally, published, and been recognized for innovative approaches to art as a healing practice.
