The Global Affairs Society (GAS) invites you to our 2024 Special General Meeting on Thursday 17th October at 12:15PM to elect a new committee.Regrettably, all of our wonderful and dedicated committee members will be graduating at the end of semester, which means we won't be able to continue GAS' legacy without new leadership. However, this presents a fantastic opportunity for those of you who have enjoyed our events and are looking to step up into a more professional role, to be elected into a vacant committee position!
At the SGM, members will have the opportunity to run for the following vacant positions on the GAS committee:
President
Secretary
Treasurer
General Representative
General Representative
General Representative
The meeting will be held in-person only, beginning at 12:15PM sharp at the Masson Theatre, Level 1, Chemistry Building West Wing (Building 153)
Entry to the SGM will not be permitted to non-members. Membership sign-ups close one hour prior to the meeting's scheduled start time of 12:15PM.
Unless advanced notice is given, persons arriving after 12:45PM will not be permitted entry.
Please register for the SGM by signing up for a FREE ticket on our UMSU page - Please note that these tickets will only be made available 15 minutes prior to the meeting commencing and will remain available until 30 minutes after the start time.
You must be a member and have a ticket to attend the SGM.
NOMINATIONS:
If you’d like to nominate yourself or someone else for a vacant position, please do so on the day at the meeting.
Please be prepared to present a case for why you should be elected for that position.
You must meet all relevant criteria for a position at the time of election to be eligible, please see our agenda attached below for details.
CONSTITUTION AND AGENDA:
We are not proposing any changes to our constitution this meeting, but if you want to take a look at our constitution or SGM agenda, find it attached below.
We need a quorum of 20 student members in attendance for the SGM to be valid, so if you're not keen on running for a position, please still come along and vote!
