Easy Gardening Strategies for Every BodyFor over 70 years, the Arthritis Foundation has championed the fight to conquer arthritis—supporting nearly 60 million adults and countless children across the U.S. who live with this challenging condition.
Join us for an insightful and empowering presentation by Daniel Rortvedt, MS, OTD, OTR/L, Clinical Associate Professor in the Occupational Therapy Program at UW–Madison. Daniel will explore the Person–Environment–Occupation model and how it applies to gardening with arthritis or limited mobility:
Person: Learn smart body mechanics, proper wrist positioning, and joint-friendly techniques.
Environment: Discover how raised beds, adaptive tools, and simple changes can make gardening more accessible.
Occupation: Get ideas for low-maintenance crops and tips for sharing gardening tasks to reduce strain.
Whether you’re a seasoned green thumb or just starting out, this session will help you garden more comfortably and confidently.
