Gardening in Florida: Understanding Our Unique Environment

Gardening in Florida is unique because of our warm climate, sandy soils, heavy rainfall, and periods of drought. By understanding these conditions and following Florida-Friendly Landscaping principles, we can create beautiful, sustainable landscapes that work with nature rather than against it. Choosing the right plants, using water wisely, protecting our soil and wildlife, and minimizing the need for fertilizers and pesticides can help our gardens thrive while also protecting Florida’s natural resources.
