Gardening for Moths is an educational program dedicated to creating sustainable, moth‑friendly garden spaces that nurture the many moth species essential to healthy ecosystems. While moths are often overshadowed by their daytime counterparts, they play a vital role as nighttime pollinators, supporting native plants, food crops, and overall biodiversity.
This program highlights their ecological importance, their remarkable diversity, and the ways they contribute to the beauty and balance of the natural world. Participants will learn how thoughtful gardening practices—such as planting native host plants, reducing outdoor lighting, and providing shelter and food sources. These practices can help reverse the decline of moth populations. Horticulture Educator Kim Rohling will guide attendees through practical, achievable steps they can take in their own backyards to create welcoming habitats that support moths throughout their life cycles, ultimately fostering a more vibrant and resilient environment.
