The Master Gardeners of Manitowoc County are celebrating our 30th anniversary in 2025! To show our appreciation for all the support we've received from the community over the years, we are hosting a free horticulture educational event.
Garden Talk 2025 will be held March 22 at the UW-Green Bay Manitowoc Campus Theatre, from 9 AM to 1 PM. Doors will open at 8:00 AM for check-in and interesting happenings!
Our three presentations will be as follows:
🪷“Flowering Shrubs for All Seasons” by David Stevens, Curator at the UW Arboretum in Madison
While often associated with spring, flowering shrubs can add color and interest throughout the year. David will highlight some of his favorite flowering shrubs that can add year-round appeal to your home landscape.
🌱“The Science of Healthy Soils” by Allen Pyle, Horticulture Outreach Specialist, UW-Madison, Division of Extension
Soil is much more than a place for plant roots to grow. It is the foundation for success in every garden and landscape. Allen will share his knowledge to help you understand soil properties and what you can do to maintain and improve soil conditions.
🥕“The Art of Food Forest Design” by Rachel Belida, Daily Harvest Designs
Have you ever dreamed of having your own food forest? Imagine stepping outside to a lush garden brimming with fruits, nuts, and vegetables! Rachel will introduce us to the seven layers of a food forest, creative ideas for adding one to your space, and explore some plant ideas. Whether you have acres of land or a small urban lot, a food forest will bring beauty and bounty to your home!
We will also have a number of exciting door prizes!🎁
There is no charge to attend this event, but we do ask that you pre-register on our website to avoid long lines that morning. Please provide your name and email address on the registration form. Your email address will NOT be shared with anyone outside the Master Gardeners of Manitowoc County, but we may use it to keep you posted on our Master Gardener events and news.
