Tomatoes struggling? Bugs, weeds, or mystery spots? Learn to scout and troubleshoot your garden with LMC!
About this Event

Are your tomatoes looking stressed? Seeing spots on leaves you can’t identify? Wondering what’s eating your cucumbers, why your peppers aren’t producing, or whether that mystery plant is a W**d or something beneficial?

If you’ve ever walked through your garden asking, “What’s going on here?” — these sessions are for you.

Join MSU Extension educator Cheyenne Sloan for a hands-on series designed to help home gardeners become better observers, troubleshoot common garden problems, and grow with more confidence throughout the season.

Hosted inside the Lake Michigan College South Haven Campus hoop house, these interactive scouting sessions will walk participants through real examples of pests, diseases, nutrient deficiencies, weeds, environmental stress, and healthy plant growth across a wide variety of crops including tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, squash, melons, lettuces, herbs, and more.

Each session will include:
• A guided scouting walk through the hoop house
• Identification of common pests, diseases, weeds, and environmental stress symptoms
• Practical garden observation and monitoring techniques
• Open Q&A with Cheyenne
• Opportunities to discuss garden challenges with fellow gardeners

Participants are encouraged to bring photos or samples from their own gardens for discussion and identification assistance during the session.

Whether you are brand new to gardening or have years of experience, these sessions are designed to help you become a more confident and observant gardener.
