Garden City Echoes: A Visual Legacy of St. Catharines

This presentation focuses on showing the visual legacy of St. Catharines through historical
photographs from the St. Catharines Museum. It will cover from 1870-1990’s and will be entirely
comprised of digitized historical photographs. It will show the growth of St. Catharines over the
past 150 years, using photographs as a gauge. We will learn about the early photographers of
the city, see glimpses of old St. Catharines through their work, and really get a sense of how
much the city has grown.
Our presenter, Will MacEachern, is the photographic collections technician at the St. Catharines Museum &
Welland Canals Centre. He spearheads the cataloging and digitization of the museum’s photographic collections.
It is also the 130th Anniversary of the St.Catharines Photographic Club so there will be cake too! 🎂
